A heated pancake competition at Wednesbury care homeResidents and Colleagues enjoyed an afternoon of fun, laughter and competitive spirit for Pancake Day this year at HC-One’s Dovedale Court care home in Wednesbury, West Midlands.

Residents enjoyed dinner and a show as they decorated homemade pancakes with their favourite toppings before tucking into them lunch. All the while, tensions were high as Colleagues participated in a pancake tossing competition to see who could flip the most pancakes.

There was lots of laughter and joking from Residents between bites of pancake as Colleagues took the competition very seriously.

One Resident commented: “Love the day and the pancakes! I can’t remember ever laughing so much.”

After lunch, Residents had a go at flipping a pancake themselves to try and beat the Colleagues’ records. But the winner of the day was Colleague Bev.

Fortunately, there were no incidents of pancakes on the ceiling as everyone enjoyed a hilarious show of skill and grace.

Dovedale Court Home Manager, Dawn Allen, said: “Hearing such laughter from everyone was the medicine we all needed.”
