A special visit from the local Mayor to open new Serenity Suite at Swallownest care homeSwallownest care home, run by HC-One, located in Swallownest, Sheffield, was visited on Thursday 25th May by Councillor Robert Taylor, the Mayor-elect in the Aughton and Swallownest ward, as the home officially launched their new Serenity Suite. 

A new end of life care service, that is tied into nursing care service at Swallownest care home was officially opened in May 2023 and the home marked the occasion in style with an open day held on Wednesday 24th May, followed by a visit from Mayor Robert Taylor the day after. 

The Serenity Suite includes several rooms within the home that are set aside for Residents who need a higher level of care, by specially trained Colleagues who they know and trust, as their needs change. 

The rooms in the Serenity Suite offer Residents and their loves ones a peaceful and enhanced ‘home from home’ environment to spend quality time together when it is needed most. Comfortable recliner chairs have been included in the Serenity Suite to help Residents and their loved ones relax privately together for more prolonged periods of time. 

To launch this fantastic new suite, on Thursday 25th May Colleagues, Residents and Relatives welcomed a very important guest into the home to look around at the new nursing and palliative care Serenity Suite.

Colleagues said they were delighted to welcome the Mayor through the doors for the afternoon so that he could see for himself what a wonderful and inviting unit has been created.

During his visit, Robert Taylor spent some quality time with some Residents, and also talked to the home’s Newly Qualified Nurse Robbie Carter, making sure to congratulate her on passing her recent nursing exam.

Councillor Robert Taylor, the Mayor-elect, was pleased to tell Colleagues just how peaceful and tranquil the suite is:
“It’s amazing, you really have done such a great job here for your Residents.”

The Residents enjoyed being able to chat with Councillor Robert and tell him how lovely it is for him to be there.

Janette Myers, Home Manager at Swallownest care home, was delighted to be able to finally show off our new suite that the team has worked so hard to bring together, she commented, 
“It’s a great feeling to be able to stand back and look at what we have achieved, but it’s also so heart-warming to see how much our Residents love their new home, to be able to watch them enjoying the warm and comforting environment that we have created is really heart-warming and totally amazing.”
