A trip out to Derwent ReservoirResidents at Greenways Court, residential and residential dementia care home, in Consett, were very excited for a trip out to Derwent Reservoir.

Derwent Reservoir is situated on the border of Country Durham and Northumberland and stretches over 3.5 miles. It attracts many visitors due to its beautiful scenery and fun activities.

As the weather was so nice and Derwent Reservoir is not far from the home, two trips went out, one on the morning and the other on the afternoon meaning 8 Residents enjoyed a trip out (Mildred, Kathleen, Josies, Janet, Vince, Maureen, Catherine, and Jean).

The Residents had a lovely stroll around the dam and enjoyed being out in the fresh air. And as a special treat everyone enjoyed a delicious ice-cream before coming home.

On the way home the Residents bumped into a couple who were riding Quad Motor Bikes. The Residents were so interested and were asking the couple lots of questions about the engines and paint work. It was great and a couple of the Residents got their pictures taken. The couple so lovely and the Residents loved speaking to them.

As Vince is a mechanic by trade, he was very interested in the bikes. He commented, “I was over the moon seeing the motorbikes.”

Maureen, remarked, “My family couldn’t believe I’ve been on a motorbike like this, I sent them the photos and they love them.”

The Residents had such a fantastic day out and they are always keen to visit new places. The enjoyed being out in the fresh air and sunshine.

Kinga Kowaliczek, Care Home Manager, said, “The Residents love to go on trips and they had a great time at Derwent Reservoir.”
