Residents enjoyed two days of fun and celebrations at HC-One’s Westwood Lodge care home as the weekend brought Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day.
On Friday, Residents were treated to a food trolley packed with savoury Chinese snacks, including sesame prawn toast, king prawns, a selection of spring rolls and, of course, prawn crackers.
Residents enjoyed trying the different foods and some were even surprised by how much they liked it. They taste-tested their snacks with their choice of soft drink, or even a glass of wine or beer for those who wanted to celebrate a little more.
Westwood Lodge Senior Carer, Kathryn Hodgson, said: “It’s nice to see the Residents trying different foods!”
After a day of rest and relaxation, Sunday brought Valentine’s Day and, with it, another themed food trolley.
Each Resident received their very own red rose to spread the love throughout the home as Colleagues visited each room in the home.
Evelyn Maher, a Resident at Westwood Lodge, commented: “I love the rose, thank you so much. I have never been given one before.”
It was a touching moment for many Residents to spread cheer throughout the home as the Colleagues served freshly baked cakes, Baileys and hot chocolates.
