Chandlers Ford care home in Eastleigh, Hampshire, hosted an English country garden high tea and was visited on Friday 1st July by Mr Deputy Mayor of Eastleigh, as the home welcomed visitors and guests from the local community to the home to participate in this year’s Care Home Open Week celebrations from 27th June to 3rd July 2022.
Care Home Open Week is a national event hosted by Championing Social Care, designed to connect care homes with their local communities. This year, homes across the UK enjoyed being able to celebrate with communities in person again, having marked the annual event virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event took place in the home’s beautiful courtyard and was planned collectively by the fantastic team of Colleagues, with regular consultations from the Residents, who enjoyed the sunshine, fresh air, food and entertainment provided by a singer and guitarist.
Residents and Colleagues of the HC-One owned home enjoyed meeting Mr Deputy Mayor of Eastleigh and chatting to him about what life is like at Chandlers Ford – which is an integral part of the local Eastleigh community.
Mr Deputy Mayor said that he was moved by the care given to Residents and can see that Colleagues bring joy to their lives.
Lucy Hilferty, Care Home Manager, said, “This is the start of many more events and celebrations. We have entertainers booked every month, along with trips to the local pub, cafes and shops, and we are arranging trips further afield in our minibus.”
