Ashton View Resident marks 60th wedding anniversaryToday at Ashton View residential memory care, nursing and nursing memory care home, in Wigan, one Resident and his wife celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary. 

Phillip Thompson, who lives at the home, and his wife Irene, have been married for six decades and a visit was booked in for the special occasion. 

Stacey and Ann Marie on the wellbeing team decorated the visitors’ room with balloons and personalised posters for the special couple. There was a personalised poster and poem for them both displayed on the wall, as well as presents and a large balloon that read ’60 years’. 

Carers, on the unit where Phillip stays, helped him choose his favourite shirt to see his wide with. 

Irene and their son came to the home and were surprised to see Phillip bearing lots of gifts for his wide along with a fully decorated room. She was over the moon to see such an effort that had been put in, just for them. She was really happy and very grateful. 

Demelza James, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Happy anniversary to Mr and Mrs Thompson, 60 years married and still happily in love, it’s such a beautiful thing to see.”
