Autumn festivities at Burntwood care homeChaseview in Staffordshire, which offers general nursing and residential dementia, had a busy Sunday with three different celebrations.

With the Harvest Festival, Silver Sunday and Grandparents Day, all falling on the 3rd of October this year, Chaseview combined the celebrations and had a relaxing cheese and wine afternoon. Residents loved choosing their cheeses to taste from the menu, with most having a little bit of everything!

There was also a range of different wines to taste, with different red and whites to choose from and even a bottle of Port, which accompanied the cheese very well the Residents said. Lemonade was also on offer for those who didn’t want or couldn’t have any alcoholic drinks.

In the run up to the event, the Residents got involved with some finger painting of Autumn trees for their rooms and helped to make scarecrows and tea-stained leaves for the Harvest Festival display.

Residents seemed to really enjoy Harvest Festival, one commented “What beautiful cheese and wine options” and another said, “The finger painting was so much fun, simple and effective”.

Jennifer, the Home Manager expressed how nice it was seeing everybody enjoying themselves “I really liked seeing the Residents get involved throughout the week, and also enjoying the cheese and wine afternoon so much!”
