Avon Court care home Resident congratulated for tremendous charity fundraisingIf you’ve been keeping up to date with the stories at Avon Court residential, nursing and nursing dementia care home, in Chippenham, you’ll know that they’re not strangers to charity fundraising, and yet again one Resident has been working hard to raise money for charity.

Last November, Vera Benney knitted to raise more than £500 for the Air Ambulance, now Vera is raising money for The Alzheimer’s Society, and has already donated £500!

Vera knits items of clothing such as babywear, hats, scarves and gloves and sells these from the home to raise money.

Rachel White, who is The Alzheimer’s Society Fundraiser for Wiltshire, visited the home to collect Vera's donation as she wanted to thank Vera personally.

Vera was given a thank you card and a badge as well as a huge thank you and is already thinking about her third lot of donations!

Mela James, Home Manager, commented, “We feel this is a huge achievement and I am delighted to be part of the day and proud that Vera is now tackling her third donation.”
