Bedwas Care Home Residents Enjoy a Trip Down Memory Lane at Local Vintage Vehicle ShowResidents from HC-One’s Parklands Care Home in Bedwas, Caerphilly, enjoyed a sunny day filled with nostalgia, engines, and good company as they attended a vintage vehicle show hosted by their friendly neighbours at the local council office.

Several of the home’s gents took a short stroll next door to admire the impressive display of classic cars and motorbikes, many of which brought back fond memories of their younger years.

One resident, Lewis Riddiford, particularly wowed colleagues and fellow attendees with his impressive ability to identify vintage motorbikes from a distance, proving he’s still got an expert eye for the finer details. Another resident, Eddie Evans, was eager to get hands-on and even offered to help polish up one of the gleaming showpieces.

Resident Leonard Clark was accompanied by his niece Karen, and the pair spent a delightful afternoon exploring the exhibits together and reminiscing about days gone by.

The sunshine added to the charm of the day, with residents basking in the warmth, chatting with car owners, and soaking up the sights and sounds of the event. It was a perfect opportunity for social connection, gentle exercise, and intergenerational bonding, all central to the home’s approach to enriching residents’ lives.

Home Manager at HC-One Wales’s Parklands Care Home, Amy Campbell, said:

"We’re so lucky to be part of such a welcoming community. It was wonderful to see our residents enjoying the fresh air, the nostalgia of vintage motors, and the great company. Thank you to our neighbours at the council office for hosting such a lovely event, our gents came back full of smiles and stories!"

The team at Parklands Care Home looks forward to more opportunities like this to connect with the local community and provide meaningful moments for residents.
