Residents, families, and colleagues at HC-One’s Fosse Way View Care Home in Bingham, Nottingham, recently came together for a heartfelt and inspiring fundraiser in support of the Alzheimer’s Society, raising an impressive £250 for the charity.

The event was marked by a special visit from Hazel Tengku Chik Melewar, a representative from the Alzheimer’s Society, who delivered an informative and engaging talk about Alzheimer’s disease. Residents and their family members had the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the condition, and gain valuable insight into the work being done to support those affected.

Guests enjoyed a delightful coffee and cake afternoon, featuring beautifully themed cakes created by the care home’s talented catering team. The cakes were decorated with the iconic blue forget-me-not flower, the symbol of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Adding a personal and creative touch to the fundraiser, Wellbeing Coordinator Dawn Bellaby crocheted 53 forget-me-not flowers and handmade bookmarks, which were sold to boost the fundraising total. The items were crafted during the care home’s popular “Knit and Natter” sessions.

Dawn Bellaby, Wellbeing Coordinator at HC-One’s Fosse Way View Care Home, shared her pride in the event's success:

“I'm amazed at how much money we managed to raise for such a worthy cause. Alzheimer's affects so many of us, both at work and at home, and I'm glad we’ve contributed towards helping find a cure.”
During her visit, Hazel joined residents and colleagues for a celebratory drink and cheque presentation, where the final amount raised was revealed.

“Thank you all for raising this money,” Hazel said. “It will go a long way in helping us work towards finding a cure for Alzheimer’s. Every contribution makes a real difference.”

The team at Fosse Way View were thrilled with the success of the fundraiser and grateful to everyone who contributed to such a meaningful cause.
