HC-One’s Fosse Way View Care Home, in Bingham, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, is delighted to announce a special Coffee Afternoon Fundraiser in support of Dementia Action Week 2025 (May 19 to 25).
The event, taking place on Wednesday, May 21, from 3pm to 5pm, will raise vital funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society. Guests are invited to enjoy homemade cakes, a cup of coffee, and engaging conversation in the home’s welcoming bar and reception area, with patio doors open to the beautifully landscaped garden.
The event will feature a guest speaker from the Alzheimer’s Society, offering an opportunity to learn more about the charity’s work, ask questions, and deepen their understanding of dementia care. Attendees are encouraged to embrace the forget-me-not theme by wearing blue to show their support.
Fosse Way View, who provide residential and residential dementia care, is proud of its longstanding connection with the Alzheimer’s Society, having previously participated in the Dementia Friends programme. The home also maintains strong ties with the Rushcliffe community, recently attending the Dementia Roadshow as part of the Rushcliffe Dementia Action Network (RDAN).
Elizabeth Wood, HC-One’s Fosse Way View Care Home Manager, said:
“At Fosse Way View, we are pleased to continue to support the Alzheimer’s Society with the work they do for us, and for our wider community. During Dementia Action Week, we hope to raise awareness and bring lots of people into the home to fundraise on the day.”
Corinne Mills, Interim CEO of Alzheimer’s Society, said:
"We are delighted to be supporting events around the country during Dementia Action Week. This year we’re highlighting the six most common symptoms of dementia and encouraging anyone with concerns to use our free symptom checklist and seek help from their GP or other health professional.
“More than a third of people with dementia don’t have a diagnosis, meaning they’re missing out on the vital care, support and treatment they need. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We understand that getting a diagnosis can be daunting, but we believe it’s better to know.
“Our research shows that 97% of people affected by dementia saw a benefit in getting a diagnosis. An early and accurate diagnosis helps people to live independently for longer, access existing treatments, and can prevent crisis situations. It also allows people to better understand their condition and plan for their future.”
This fundraiser, organised by Fosse Way View Wellbeing Coordinator Dawn Bellaby, underscores the home’s commitment to supporting dementia-related causes. The Coffee Afternoon is a one-off event, but Fosse Way View regularly hosts community activities, including a weekly Knit and Natter group every Tuesday afternoon.
Join the team at Fosse Way View Care Home to support a worthy cause, connect with the community, and enjoy a delightful afternoon. For more information on HC-One homes in your area, visit www.hc-one.co.uk/carehomes.
