A resident at Victoria Manor Care Home in Whitley, Coventry, West Midlands, has enjoyed what he described as “the best night of my life” after staff helped him begin ticking off items on his bucket list.
Brian Davies, who lives at Victoria Manor, was recently advised by his consultant to start working through his bucket list following a terminal diagnosis. Determined to make his wishes a reality, the team at the care home wasted no time in planning a special evening.
The first experience on Brian’s list saw him treated to a glamorous night out at a drag show at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry. Before the show, Brian enjoyed a meal out at Bella Italia, making a full evening of celebration, laughter and great company.
Resident Brian Davies said:
“It was the best night of my life. I’ve been telling everyone in the home all about it – I’ll never forget it.”
The trip was organised by Activity Co-ordinator Katie Becker, with support from Home Manager Tina Booton, as part of Victoria Manor’s commitment to putting residents’ happiness, individuality and life stories at the heart of everything they do.
Activity Co-ordinator Katie Becker said:
“When Brian shared his bucket list with us, we knew we wanted to make it as special as possible. Seeing how happy he was and how much he’s been talking about it since has made it all worthwhile.”
Tina Booton, Home Manager added:
“At Victoria Manor, it’s so important to us that residents continue to live full, joyful lives, creating new memories as well as cherishing old ones. Brian’s night out was incredibly special, and we’re proud to support him with the rest of his bucket list too.”

Brian still has a number of wishes he hopes to fulfil, including meeting Gordon Ramsay and enjoying a meal at one of his restaurants, going to a comedy show for the night, and taking a trip on a steam train.
