On the day of the Grand National at
Rosebridge Court care home, in Wigan, Residents took part in a horse themed game, to coincide with the annual horse race, and everyone had a fantastic time!
After lunch on Saturday 15th April, Colleagues made space in the dining room for Residents to have fun joining in with the homemade ‘Grand National Game’ (which was previously a Donkey Derby game). Residents tried their hand at winning, with chocolate prizes and rosettes for the winners.
Following this all Residents involved moved into the lounge to watch the race. Some Residents and Colleagues took part in a sweepstake and there was lots of cheering and chanting with everyone trying to guess the winner. Dennis, who lives at the 46-bed nursing dementia care home, was over the moon as he picked the winning horse!
The day was finished off by ordering a Chinese takeaway meal with a variety of delicious dishes, including curry, Chow Mein, omelettes and soft drinks.
A good day was had by all, with Residents having a lot of positive comments including, "It was a fun day”, “Laughter is the best medicine” and “That was the best Chinese meal I’ve ever had!”
Sarah Cunliffe, Home Administrator, commented, “I wasn't here to be part of this fun event, however, when I came to work on Monday all the Residents were telling me how much fun it was!”
