Broadway Resident makes first trip out in new wheelchairIt was a special day when one Resident at HC-One’s Brompton House care home, in Broadway, received her new outdoor wheelchair and tried it out by venturing to a local café with her daughter.

Virginia has made the 37-bed residential and nursing care home her home and unfortunately, due to her medical condition Virginia is unable to walk; she uses a big, comfy chair daily, which has wheels but is not suitable to be taken outside. Subsequently, a new chair was ordered so that she would be able to go outside for trips with her family.

It was a very special day, when Virginia received her new outdoor wheelchair, which was custom made especially for her. She made her first trip out in the new wheelchair with her daughter Victoria (pictured). The pair went to a café, which is in Broadway Steam Train Station, the happiness they both felt was beyond the words!

Victoria expressed her feelings and how emotional she was to be able to take her mum for a coffee outside.

Virginia loved being out and spending time in a café, she said, “It was wonderful to be able to go out after such a long time.”

Karina Kotkowska, Bromptom House’s Covid Coordinator, commented, “It was such a pleasure to witness happiness on Virginia's face.”
“We all so happy for Virginia and her family and it's so lovely to see her being able to make as many trips as she likes and enjoy her life so much more.”
