It has been a very special week at HC-One’s
Dove Court care home, in Burnley, which offers residential, nursing and dementia care, as one of the Residents marked her 105th birthday with a lovely party, reminiscing and spending time with family.
Eliza Wright was born on 23rd April 1917 in Burnley. Eliza married her husband Albert and has two daughters, Brenda (pictured with Eliza) and Linda, and a son, Kenneth.
Dancing has been a large part of Eliza’s life and she worked as an MC (Master of Ceremonies) setting up dances at Bacup Leisure Hall, which is less than 10 miles away from where Eliza lives now. Eliza loved to dance and was dancing up until the age of 98 years old.
Dove Court regularly had performers come into the home and Eliza enjoyed seeing Sandersons Dance Students perform various dances at the home.
When asked what her secret is to a long life, Eliza said, “Ballroom dancing.”
For the birthday celebrations, a lovely birthday party was organised at the home, inviting Eliza’s family, Colleagues and her friends at Dove Court. She enjoyed fish and chips for tea and had a great day.
Stephanie Tillotson, Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “We had a lovely celebration for Eliza’s birthday and all involved enjoyed the party!”
