Burns Night at St Clares Court care homeResidents at St Clares Court, residential and residential memory care home, in Newton Ayclifee, have recently celebrated Burns Night.

Burns Night is a celebration of the birthday of the famous poet Robert Burns.

Arthur from the Newton Aycliffe pipe band kindly gave up his time to come and play the bagpipes for the Residents.

The dining rooms were decorated throughout the home, and the wonderful kitchen staff created a traditional menu of haggis, neeps and tatties with Cranachan for dessert with a “wee drum of
whiskey”.

It was wonderful to see the Residents enjoying their meal together and laughing and having a great time. Everyone was so grateful for Arthur coming to play the bagpipes. He was great!

One Resident, commented, “Thank you for the wonderful party, it was superb.”

Helen Emerson, Care Home Manager, added, “It was heart warming to see all of the Residents enjoying some entertainment after being in outbreak.”
