Care Home Open Week preparations from Market LavingtonWith Care Home Open Week due to take place at the end of June, Colleagues and Residents at Market Lavington care home, in Wiltshire, which offers residential, nursing and nursing dementia care, have been busy preparing the activities.

Care Home Open Week is a little different this year with the activities across the nation taking part over a week, as opposed to just one day as with previous years. It is hosted by Championing Social Care, a volunteer-led group with the aim of ensuring public understanding, appreciation and respect for social care.

HC-One’s Market Lavington care home are pleased to jump on board and provide some wonderful activities for their Residents.

On Thursday 30th June, the year 3 and 4 children in the 'Savernake' class at the local St Barnabas School, in Easterton, will be coming to the care home to sing to Residents as part of the Open Day celebrations.

Lindsey Clough, Headteacher, was very happy to be involved in the event and is looking forward to it, she is still looking into the songs to be performed and devising a song list.

Also during the week of celebrations, everyone at the home will be present to open a new garden, dedicated to the memory of June Clack. June was a much-loved Resident at Market Lavington. In collaboration with her family and Colleagues, a lot of hard work has gone into creating a beautiful garden in her memory and this will be formally opened during the home’s open day afternoon.

The Open Day will also be a chance for everyone to celebrate the home’s amazing refurbishment that has taken place throughout recent months. The home’s floors have been beautifully transformed and certain areas have been completely re-designed and newly furnished for the benefit of Residents. Everyone is so proud of the end result and hope to share this success with the community!

Head Chef John, along with the rest of the amazing kitchen team, will be providing a buffet for everyone who visits Market Lavington on the 30th.

Finally, the home will be holding a raffle on the day with all proceeds going to the Residents’ Fund. Tickets are available and can be purchased from Wellbeing Coordinators Riaz Ali or Michaela Swiffen, Home Administrator, Mary-Ann Pugh and Home Manager, Natasha Howard.

Riaz, said, “I am sure this will be fun and heart-warming event for all involved.
