Celebrating notable March events at the MillbrookAt the Millbrook residential care home, in Manchester, Colleagues decided to put on some great celebrations for Residents to mark two very special events, Nutrition and Hydration Week and St Patrick’s Day.

On 16th March the home was made to look like the famous Alice in Wonderland theme, with a beautifully put together tea party, to mark Nutrition and Hydration Week and take Residents on a trip to a fantasy world.

Residents, including Jackie, Margaret, Tina, Barbara, Kathleen, Olivia, Hilda, Anne, Molly, John and Stephen followed the White Rabbit into Millbrook’s wonderland, and Colleagues brought out a selection of teas and cakes. The tables were arranged with a decor that the mad hatter himself would have been proud! Everyone commented on how wonderful it looked.

A series of activities were on offer for Residents to take part in, including crafting teacups, hats and aprons. Residents enjoyed making teacups and trying all the yummy cakes.

One of the Residents grinned (like a Cheshire cat) and said, “I have loved the day, especially the cakes.”

Another Resident added, “I’ve had a lovely day and the cakes were amazing.”

Claire Jones, Home Manager, commented, “It was fun to decorate our home. The Residents really enjoyed themselves.”

The following day was St Patrick’s Day, and the home certainly couldn’t miss celebrating the occasion!

Colleagues dressed up, and Wellbeing Coordinator Alina revamped the home with some Irish themed decorations.

The kitchen team made a traditional Irish menu that consisted of Irish beef stew, Guinness Baileys cheesecake, and chocolate sponge and green mint custard. This could all be washed down with Baileys coffee and Guinness.

The Residents and staff had a fun day listening to Irish music

One Resident remarked, “What a fun day and the coffee was lovely!”

Claire, said, “Everyone enjoyed St Patrick’s Day and I am very pleased that the staff have really made the Residents’ day by dressing up.”
