Two amazing Residents at HC-One’s
Admirals Reach care home in Chelmsford celebrated huge milestones this month, which was a great cause for celebration in the home.
Resident Henrietta Martin turned 80 on 16th April and Resident Daphne Chapman celebrated her 90th birthday on April 30th.
Henrietta was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 16th April 1941, during the Second World War. Henrietta loved her childhood in Belfast before moving over to England in her early 20’s for work.
For work, Henrietta cleaned offices for a lot of her life and in her free time she enjoyed cooking, baking and knitting. Henrietta married to Eddie Martin, who she had a daughter with. Margaret, Henrietta’s daughter, then went on to have a boy and a girl herself, making Henrietta a proud grandmother to her grand daughter and grandson.
According to Henrietta, the secret to long life is ‘Dry martini, Irish coffee and to be happy.’
For Henrietta’s Birthday, Colleagues at Admirals Reach gifted Henrietta a beautiful bouquet of flowers, an 80th balloon, card and cake. Her daughter Margaret also came to visit so everyone could celebrate together.
Daphne Chapman, 90, was born in Maldon, Essex on 30th April 1931, where she worked in a shop for a lot of her younger years. In her spare time, Daphne enjoyed a spot of housekeeping and knitting.
Daphne married her husband Ken, to whom she had one daughter, Rosemary and one son, Peter.
The secret to long life according to Daphne is to ‘stay happy. For her big day, Colleagues at the home gifts daphne some lovely flowers, a card and a lovely birthday cake for everyone to share at tea time.
