December has arrived, and with it a heart-warming start to the festive season at HC-One’s Snapethorpe Hall Care Home in Lupset, Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The home launched its latest Community Café, bringing together residents, families, staff, friends, and local community members for a morning filled with music, companionship, and Christmas spirit.
This month’s event was made even more special by the presence of the Wakefield Choir, whose festive performance delighted everyone in attendance. Their visit was particularly meaningful for resident Joyce Perryman, who sang with the choir for several years. Reunited with her former choir colleagues, Joyce’s joy was felt across the room, a touching reminder that treasured friendships stand the test of time.
Following the performance, guests gathered in the dining room for refreshments. For over two and a half hours, residents, relatives, and community members enjoyed warm conversations and a relaxed, festive atmosphere. The event was attended by 53 people, making it one of the home’s most successful community cafés to date.
The delicious cake platters were lovingly prepared by Head Chef Andy Jarvis, while Julie Fieldman, Turnaround Manager for the North East, served tea and coffee, taking the time to speak with each guest individually. The event was organised by Wellbeing Coordinator, Daniela Manea, with additional support from the dedicated team at Snapethorpe Hall.
“Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year,” Daniela said. “The joy of music, especially carols, brought happiness to everyone present. It was a beautiful way to bring our community together.”
Snapethorpe Hall’s Community Café will return in 2026, continuing its mission to strengthen community connections and create meaningful moments for residents and their loved ones.
