Competition winners at MillbrookThis year at the Millbrook residential care home, in Manchester, they had the privilege of entering the HC-One garden competition for the first time ever, and what a success it has been!

Congratulations to Residents Sheila and Jackie (pictured) for winning the “Green Fingers Award”; they have shown that, even without professional help, they can transform a dreary garden into something really beautiful.

The garden gave Sheila and Jackie a sense of achievement and even encouraged other Residents to join in together and admire the pretty bright colourful flowers as they bloomed through the season.

Everyone involved enjoyed growing and tending to the plants, and the competition added to the fun!

Both proud of their achievements, they looked forward to feedback from the judges, and Sheila and Jackie will receive a £50 for all their hard work to be put into the Residents fund.

Jackie commented, “We are proud to have such a beautiful garden at Millbrook.”

Wellbeing Coordinator Alina helped to organise the activity and said that Residents loved transforming the garden with a variety of colourful flowers and helping to maintain the plants. Everyone liked the many varieties of plants that have grown beautifully in the garden.

Claire Jones, Care Home Manager, added, “The garden looks beautiful Alina and the Residents have done a wonderful job transforming our garden with the flowers, wind chimes and birdhouses.”
