Cookie decorating at Godden LodgeThis month at Godden Lodge in Essex, which provides nursing, residential, residential dementia and nursing dementia care, Residents have enjoyed decorating some cookies on Valentine’s Day.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, the catering staff at Godden Lodge baked some wonderful heart shaped cookies. Residents got together after their lunch and spent the afternoon having fun with icing, sprinkles, and heart shaped chocolates. They were then quite quickly enjoyed by the Residents with a lovely hot cuppa!

On the Cephas unit, one Resident, Trevor, performed the all-important taste test for different flavours of icing that was to be used, whilst over on Victoria unit there was a single cookie left without a sprinkle.

Residents expressed their delight at the activity with one Resident saying, “its lovely to see all the pretty decorated cookies and all of the smiles” and Vera another Resident at the home said, “This is so fun! I can put anything I want on it!”

Lanie, the Home Manager went on to say, “It all looks so delicious! I’m sad I didn’t get a chance to decorate one but I’m glad the Residents all had a lot of fun”.
