Coronation celebrations at Swallownest care home are one to remember4th May was a very exciting and fun-filled day for Residents at HC-One’s Swallownest care home, in Sheffield, in celebration of the King’s Coronation taking place on the weekend, they decided to hold their very own royal afternoon tea, along with a brilliant Elvis and Vera Lynn show.

Residents at the 64-bed residential and nursing care home, loved joining together along with their friends and family to celebrate the special event over some lovely music and delicious sweet-treats, including cakes, scones and white wine spritzers.

Margaret, who is a new Resident to Swallownest, was so delighted to take part, and mentioned how lovely it was to be able to watch the show around all of her new friends in the home, her favourite part was Elvis.

A very special and meaningful moment of the day was when Julie, who is also a new Resident, was unable to make the show and unfortunately missed Elvis, however, to make up for this, Elvis went to visit her in her bedroom and gave Julie her very own one to one show! Julie was so happy to have gotten to see him and was emotional at the gesture. She said, “This has made my year! Thank you so much for doing this, especially for me.”

The Residents loved being able to sing and dance, surrounded by their loved ones.

Margaret Young, who lives at Swallownest, told Colleagues, “It really is so lovely how much you all do to make sure we have a lovely time on these special occasions, it means so much to us all.”

Jan Myers, Care Home Manager, remarked, “So, between dressing up, and sipping on white wine spritzers, it really was a lovely day filled with the upmost generosity and love for one another.”
“It is wonderful to see our Residents and their families being able to come together for occasions like this to celebrate together as one.”
