Couple celebrates diamond wedding anniversary at Ferryhill care homeJoyce College, a Resident at HC-One’s Tenlands care home in Ferryhill celebrated 60 years of marriage with her husband, George on Thursday 4th March.

The pair met at the Durham Ox pub in Coundon and quickly fell in love, they married at Bishop Auckland Registry Office in 1961.

When asked about her marriage to George, Joyce commented: “We had our little ups and downs as you do when you first get together but we sat and sorted everything out which resulted in having an absolutely brilliant life.”

Joyce and Graham have been blessed with two children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with their sixth due soon. They loved going on holidays together and have a fondness for the Greek islands.
The couple agreed that a secret to a long and happy marriage is listening to each other and never going to bed unhappy.

COVID-19 restrictions throughout 2020 meant that Joyce and George have had to spend less time together and miss out on quality time with their loved ones as have so many others around the world. The team at Tenlands were dedicated to helping the couple celebrate their milestone anniversary as best as they can.
