The Residents of
Brandon House in Coventry, which provides nursing dementia care, have collaborated with their local community to create a display of poppies for Remembrance Day.
Members of the community from church and schools handmade a selection of poppies to be displayed outside of the care home to help the residentials commemorate Remembrance Day.
Simon Day, Wellbeing Coordinator from Brandon House oversaw the event and said: “This was a great opportunity for our residents to interact with members of our local community and work together for a great cause.
“The residents all enjoyed being able to remember our service men, women and animals in such a nice way.”
Some of the Residents also took part in the creation of the poppies and enjoyed putting their knitting and creativity skills to the test.
Sheryl, the Home Manager, said: “It was such a fabulous display that really did our service people proud. We were proud to remember the people that have represented out country.
“I’d like to say a big well done and thank you to the members of our community who helped to make the display for the residents of Brandon House.”
Brandon House had its own Remembrance Day service led by St Laurence’s church which is next door to the residential home.
Sheryl went on to say, “Remembrance Day means a lot to our residents as lots of them can remember the war, so we will always do what we can to honour this important day.”
