December news from Roxburgh HouseFrom an afternoon tea, to gingerbread house making and a lovely donation from a local store, HC-One’s Roxburgh House residential and residential dementia care home, in Cradley Heath, have been busy this December.

Residents Betty and Madeline, with Colleague Karen, made a beautiful gingerbread house together on 13th December. Betty enjoyed gluing the house together with icing and Madeline enjoyed decorating the lovely little house.

Betty commented, “I’ve really enjoyed myself!”

Karen said, “The ladies liked being creative and it was a lovely afternoon.”

On 15th December, Residents enjoyed an afternoon tea with prosecco!

Head Cook, Louise, got very creative in the kitchen and made lots of sandwiches, cakes, trifles, cheesecakes and much more! She served up the food on proper China plates and even some China teacups and saucers.

Everyone said how nice the food was, and they especially liked the China.

Linda Wilkes, Care Home Manager, commented, “What a lovely spread!”

Also this month the home received a wonderful donation from Dunelm Oldbury’s ‘DunElves’.

Staff at the store organised a Christmas tree in their store with tags on for all Residents at the home so that members of the public could take a tag and buy a gift for that Resident.

Residents have liked seeing all the gifts arriving at the home.

Linda said, “Everyone is so grateful for this thoughtful act of kindness and the staff also gave some items to Colleagues too!”
