Devizes Residents themed day with rainbows and holidaysThe previous ‘Stop the Clock theme’ of Rainbows proved very popular at Market Lavington care home, in Devizes, so Residents wanted to continue to create rainbows in the arts and crafts group.

Wellbeing Coordinator, Riaz Ali, got to it and also incorporated this month’s theme of ‘Holidays’ too. Some Residents began colouring in old 1950s holiday posters that were produced by British Rail during those decades.

Residents and Colleagues also chatted a lot about holidays and sharing memories of favourite destinations. People have been to so many different places, far and wide, such as Austria, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and America!

Everyone loved the reminiscing and sharing stories of the past.

“I was never good at arts and crafts in school but it’s nice to take part now,” commented Resident Violet Lloyd. When discussing holidays, she also mentioned “I had a friend in Australia that I would visit regularly some years ago, that’s why I thought I’d colour in a kangaroo!”

“I would like to colour in a scene of Austria as I went on a school trip there when I was a child,” Angela Wakely added.

Riaz commented on the day, “Sometimes it’s so much fun to combine two things – arts and crafts and reminiscence – into one group like this, and it can work really well!”
