Diamond Anniversary Celebrations at Nottingham Care HomeResidents and colleagues at Coppice Lodge Care Home in Arnold, Nottingham, part of HC-One, were delighted to help residents Judith Glass, aged 87, and her husband John, aged 97, celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on 23rd August with a special celebration.

The happy couple marked their remarkable milestone with a small party held in the home’s Tea Room, joined by their two sons and a granddaughter. The pair were also thrilled to receive a congratulatory card from His Majesty King Charles III to mark their special day.

Judith and John’s love story began 65 years ago in Cambridge. Judith recalled sitting on a riverbank when John came and sat beside her, an encounter that turned into a lifetime together. At the time, Judith was living in Nottingham and John in Brighton, both out for the day with friends.

As the day came to an end, Judith set off to catch her train home. By chance, her train was delayed, and John, determined not to let the moment pass, doubled back to the station to ask her for her address.

The pair met again a week later in London, where they enjoyed watching the Ladies’ Wimbledon Final and a theatre trip to see West Side Story, before spending the weekend with friends in Harrow. The rest, as Judith fondly put it, “is history.”

Reflecting on their long and happy marriage, Judith said:

“I never assumed the relationship would end, and it never did.”

Angela Allen, Front of House Manager at HC-One’s Coppice Lodge Care Home, commented:

“It was such a privilege to help Judith and John celebrate their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. Their story is so special, and it was wonderful to see their family together to mark this amazing milestone.”

Coppice Lodge Care Home is proud to be part of these cherished moments, supporting residents to celebrate life’s milestones with joy and togetherness.
