Double award celebration with 35 years of service for Sheffield ColleaguesTwo members of staff at Swallownest care home received their long service awards, which was presented by the home’s Area Director on 29th of July.

Laundry Assistant Ruth Cox has been at the 64-bed residential and nursing care home for a huge 25 years and Tracy Irek (Unit Manager) has also been celebrating 10 years!

Both ladies were over the moon with the recognition of their achievement when Area Director Margaret Barton presented the ladies with their award and gifts (see pictured).

Ruth said, “I wouldn’t like to work anywhere else; this is my second home and the people who live here are my extended family. This job is not just about laundering clothes; the chats we have with Residents when we are putting the laundry away in their rooms is priceless. I love going to visit the Residents, it makes my day brighter.”

Tracy said, “This role is so rewarding. We get to make a difference to peoples’ lives and a lot of the time we get to see the spark come back in their eyes as they start to make friends and engage in our home’s activities.”

“There are also the friends I have made over the years (at Swallownest care home). We go out together, out of work, and support each other through everyday life events.”

Andy Gibb, Home Manager, commented, “What an achievement, huge congratulations to both Ruth and Tracy. We are so lucky to have a brilliant team of Colleagues here at Swallownest.”
