At Harnham Croft care home, in Wiltshire, not only has it been the run up to Christmas with plenty of activities, but it has also been a very special Resident’s centenary birthday.
Resident Joan Sanger (pictured left) celebrated her 100th Birthday on 13th December with a special birthday cake which was enjoyed by all Residents and Joan’s family who visited in the home’s unique Covid-secure visitor pod
Joan had a lovely celebration throughout the day following birthday wishes from the Queen and so many cards, gifts and well wishes. Colleagues reminisced with Joan about the special moments in her life so far.
Jim Bowie, Home Manager, said, “it is brilliant that the everyone has been able to support a safe visit for family on this special day.”
“It’s sharing special moments like this that bring real joy to all involved. Joan’s family said many thanks for all the help that everyone put in for Joan’s birthday. She appeared to enjoy it all!”
Also, this month a very special visit happened, from none other than father Christmas himself.
Despite the current restrictions, the Residents at Harnham Croft were treated to a surprise visitor.
Father Christmas visited Residents in rooms to share gifts and festive cheer.
It bought a smile to so many faces and Residents were singing, “It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas”
Jim Bowie, AKA Father Christmas, said, “It was fantastic to be able to secure a visit from Father Christmas during these challenging times.”
Another celebration the home has marked this month is the annual festive Christmas party; which involved lots of singing, dancing and festive fun, with lovely snacks and cakes from the fabulous kitchen team
“We had such a fun time, everyone was really involved,” one of the Residents commented.
Residents enjoyed the festive hats and fun interactions with the team while dressing up and pulling funny faces
Residents said It was, “So lovely to be able to get everyone together and have fun.”
A great fun-filled festive time was had by all!
