Ebor Court Care Home Unveils Its Own Christmas Song: ‘A Hug for Christmas’HC-One’s Ebor Court Care Home in Nether Poppleton, York, is ringing in the festive season with a heart-warming musical project that has united residents, staff, families, and local musicians in true community spirit. The home has released its very own rewritten version of Deck the Halls, titled A Hug for Christmas, a joyful track celebrating togetherness at this special time of year.

The lyrics for the song were penned by Ebor Court’s Lifestyle Manager, Denise Cooper, and the final track was mixed by acclaimed musician and Scottish beatboxer BIGG TAJ. Residents and staff joined their voices to bring the piece to life, with an early “Band Aid-style” release shared on Facebook, capturing the warmth, connection, and fun that define Christmas at Ebor Court.

To continue the celebrations, a live recording event will take place on Sunday 14 December at 2:00pm. The track will again be performed in a Band Aid-style arrangement, supported by talented vocal group The Rolling Tones from Musical Connections. Members of the local community are warmly invited to attend, join in the singing, and take part in a “big group hug” after the performance.

Denise Cooper, Lifestyle Manager at Ebor Court, said:

“At Ebor Court we don’t just deck the halls, we remix them! Watching our residents and staff come together was truly special and reminds us what Christmas is really about. Sometimes, all we need is a hug.”

Resident Pat Bean shared her joy at taking part:

“Singing with everyone made me feel so young again. It’s lovely to be part of something that brings so much joy.”

Home Manager Yvonne Penrose added:

“I’m so proud of everyone who took part. The joy in the room was incredible. We can’t wait to do it all again on Sunday. It’s moments like this that remind us why Ebor Court feels like one big family.”
