Residents of
Acomb Court, residential and dementia care home in Hexham, have had some wonderful days out recently, first visiting Langley Castle, and then the Sill at Hadrian's Wall. The group, including bus driver Ron and residents Nancy, Mary, Sonia, William, and Peter, set off on their adventure, eager to explore new places and create lasting memories.
At Langley Castle, the Residents were thrilled to see the stunning architecture and beautiful fresh flowers throughout the castle. Nancy was especially impressed, stating that she thoroughly enjoyed it and that it was a wonderful setting. The Colleagues were very welcoming, giving the group a tour and an interesting history talk. The Residents also got to meet the adorable Chester the puppy, who they fussed over. After their tour, the group enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea, featuring a selection of sandwiches, cakes, and scones.
Next, the group headed to the Sill at Hadrian's Wall, where they were met by tour guide Duncan. He showed them around the building, including the roof terrace with a panoramic view of the famous Roman Wall. The Residents then had lunch in the welcoming café, which overlooked the beautiful Northumberland countryside. The group visited the museum, which showcased the history of the Northeast of England and shared stories of their past experiences camping near the wall.
The final stop was the art gallery, where the Residents admired the drawings and paintings of wild birds. William exclaimed that it had been an excellent day, Nancy was impressed by the wonderful view from the roof terrace, Mary found it all very interesting, and Peter said he had enjoyed the trip very much.
Kinga Kowaliczek, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Overall, it was a fantastic day out for the Residents, who were able to enjoy beautiful scenery, learn new things, and create happy memories together”.
