Colleagues and Residents at The Red House care home, in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, have been making the most of the month so far with Residents keeping very busy indeed!
The Residents have been having fun making the most of yearly traditions, starting with Bonfire Night on 5th November. Colleagues organised a lovely display for Residents to watch the bright and beautiful colours in the sky which were gorgeous!
Following on from that, Residents got straight into their crafting and assisted in making poppies to display in the lounge.
Finally, the home has also been busy creating and making 3D displays for the film corner. Colleagues and Residents picked five memorable films and TV shows and have been making props that depict each one. The home has a reliant robin for ‘Only Fools and Horses’, a Dalek and Tardis for ‘Doctor Who’ and a yellow brick road for ‘Wizard of Oz’. Each session included crafting, reminiscing, singing, painting, colouring and games relating to each.
One Resident, Tracey, commented, “It’s wonderful, you can see what each prop is and it really brightens up the room!”
Fellow Resident, Daphne, remarked, “It’s a nice conversation starter looking at the film props.”
Residents loved the bright fireworks and reminiscing about their memories of the war.”
Keith Ware, Home Manager, said, “There’s been a nice array of things going on which the Residents in our care have thoroughly enjoyed.”
