Foley Grange Enjoy Cultural Trip to Kidderminster Carpet MuseumResidents and staff from Foley Grange in Kidderminster recently enjoyed an enriching visit to the Kidderminster Carpet Museum as part of the home’s ongoing commitment to wellbeing and community engagement.

The trip took place with four residents accompanied by three members of staff: Wellbeing Coordinators Paula Goodwin and Rebecca Archer, and Care Assistant Ethan Collins.

During the visit, residents explored the museum’s fascinating exhibits celebrating Kidderminster’s carpet-making heritage. They watched live demonstrations of traditional carpet-making techniques, including how historic machinery was used, as well as spinning wheel and weaving demonstrations. The museum also provided refreshments, with residents enjoying tea and biscuits during their visit.

For several residents, the trip held personal significance. One resident grew up in Kidderminster, while another previously lived in Birmingham and had family members who worked in local carpet factories. Residents also enjoyed trying on traditional hats worn by carpet factory workers and viewing historic maps of Kidderminster, bringing local history to life.

Beth Phillips, Front of House Manager said:
“Trips like this are incredibly important for our residents’ wellbeing. They provide opportunities to connect with the local community, reminisce about their past, and enjoy meaningful experiences outside the home.”

The visit forms part of Foley Grange Care Home’s regular programme of outings, with the team aiming to organise trips once a month to support residents’ physical, emotional and social wellbeing.

Foley Grange is also welcoming new residents with an introductory offer of four weeks of care for the price of three, designed to help families experience the high-quality care, facilities, and community atmosphere the home provides.
