Three football-enthusiasts of HC-One’s
Fir Trees care home, in Dukinfield, Tameside, had a fantastic day out recently when they went on a trip to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.
Colleagues Abby Parker and Karolina Kubach took Residents Brian Parkinson, William Penkett and Leslie Morgan to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on 12th October.
All three gentlemen are big fans of the football team and were over the moon with the stadium tour.
Bill has never been to the Etihad, and Brian didn’t stop smiling as they were walking around the shop and stadium; but seeing the actual football pitch where the games are played was the highlight for all!
Leslie had been to the stadium before with his daughter Pam, but he said, “It’s lovely to come back and see it again.”
The tour guides showed the group some ‘extra parts’ of the stadium, that not everyone gets to see as part of the tour.
All Residents got themselves some lovely t-shirts and caps. And when they got back to the home, they were telling Colleagues about their day, and were all very happy!
Bill commented, “Thank you so much for taking me today, I felt very emotional, and I’ve had a great time.”
Brian added, “I’ve had a fantastic day, I really enjoyed myself!”
Karolina remarked, “We’ve all had a fantastic day, definitely one to remember. It’s so nice to see Residents being out and interacting with other people. Its lovely to see them smile.”
“Trips out are very beneficial for our Residents. It’s so important for their wellbeing. They’re always so happy and smiley and always talk about it when they come back home.”
