Residents at HC-One’s Ebor Court Care Home in Nether Poppleton, York, have been proving that friendship, creativity and community spirit never go out of style. Their regular Knit & Natter sessions have become a cherished part of home life, a place where residents gather to share stories, laughter, and a love of craft.
Each week, the lounge at Ebor Court fills with the gentle click of knitting needles, colourful balls of wool, and the warm chatter of friends. The sessions encourage residents to keep their hands and minds active, while also providing a wonderful opportunity to socialise and support one another.
Recently, two of Ebor Court’s talented residents, Joan Conolly and Pam Brooks-Mcintosh, took on a special project that has captured everyone’s attention. Joan, who enjoys using the knitting machine, created a beautifully detailed hat, while Pam worked skillfully with her needles to produce a matching scarf. Together, they made a stunning handmade set that highlights both their individual talents and their shared love of knitting.
The Knit & Natter sessions are just one of the many creative activities on offer at Ebor Court, where residents are encouraged to explore their hobbies, learn new skills, and celebrate their achievements. The home’s Wellbeing Team works closely with residents to design activities that reflect their interests, from arts and crafts to music, baking, and gardening, ensuring there’s always something for everyone to enjoy.
As the colder weather approaches, Joan and Pam’s hat and scarf set will not only keep someone warm but will also serve as a lovely reminder of friendship, creativity, and teamwork at Ebor Court.
