The wellbeing team at HC-One’s Lauren Court care home, in Chester, always try and get to know the Residents in many different ways, one of these is through storytelling and reminiscing memories. Today the team sat down with 93-year-old Joyce Jones, who reflected back on the events in her life.
Joyce, pictured, got married to her husband Peter in Stalybridge on the 7th October at St. Paul’s church, in a big white wedding featuring all her family. She wore a beautiful velvet dress with a train and was given away by her father. They later had the reception at the conservative club where a local bakery had baked a three-tier traditional fruit cake to be the wedding cake.
Joyce, her husband and their friends loved to dance. Joyce herself was particularly fond of the Waltz and loved dancing to Strauss’ The Blue Danube Waltz. Joyce remembered how every Easter, they would all travel to Blackpool, stay in a local hotel and go dancing together in the Tower Ballroom.
Rebecca Jackson, Wellbeing Coordinator, remarked, “It’s always lovely being able to get to know our Residents and the incredible memories that they hold dear.”
