Glasgow care home Residents enjoy biscuit tasting eveningResidents at HC-One’s Wyndford Locks care home in Glasgow took part in a biscuit tasting evening as they treated their pallets to an abundance of biscuits, old and new.

Residents from Wyndford Locks were reminiscing about food and the subject went onto biscuits, with the Residents saying what biscuits that had not had for a long time. These biscuits included Lemon Puffs, Garibaldi, Fig Roll and Ginger nuts.

So, Kevin, Wyndford Locks wellbeing coordinator decided to surprise the Residents later on in the afternoon and decided to pick some of the biscuits they had mentioned, up from the supermarket whilst he was out shopping.

Residents snacked on the many biscuits that were on offer and enjoyed experiencing all the different flavours, some of which took them back to their childhoods.

William, a Wyndford Locks Resident said: “This really took me back, it has been really fun.”

Your sense of smell and taste change as you age. Between the ages of 40 and 50, the number of taste buds decreases, and the rest begin to shrink. It is important for Residents to keep engaged in these types of activities so they can reminisce about their childhoods and maintain their sense of taste.
