Glasgow care home Residents take part in VE Day celebrationsResidents at HC-One’s Wyndford Locks care home in Glasgow have celebrated the 75th Anniversary of VE Day and remembered those who have fallen for us.

Celebrations started with a traditional British afternoon tea, featuring some lovely cucumber and corned beef sandwiches alongside some sausage rolls. Served with this was some tea and coffee served in some china mugs.

Wyndford Locks fell silent as staff and Residents alike observed a minute’s silence to remember those who gave so much for us.

One Wyndford Locks Resident said: “It is always so lovely to celebrate the heroes that fought for our country and to remember the heroes that didn’t make it.”

The mood was then lightened when staff and Residents all sang-a-long to traditional war time songs such as ‘We’ll Meet Again” by Vera Lynn and many more, which went on into the evening.

Wyndford Locks Home Manager said: “Its lovely to see our residents reminiscing about the soldiers that went to war and to remember the ones that gave up their life.”
