Great British Pea Week at Newcastle care homeKeen gardeners, Tommy and John helped plant some peas at HC-One’s Kirkwood Court care home in Kenton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne in honour of Great British Pea Week.

Green-fingered Residents, Tommy and John both offered to plant some peas in the home’s greenhouse during Great British Pea Week, both men have always loved gardening and growing fresh food. In his younger days, Tommy used to enter leek growing competitions. 

Kirkwood Court Resident, Tommy Lackenby commented: "I love growing my own vegetables, it makes you very proud to be able to eat something you have planted."

Kirkwood Court Home Manager, Angela Douglass said: “The peas are growing perfectly, we are all excited to taste the results of Tommy and John’s efforts when they are ready to harvest.”
