The Garden Club for Residents at Skellingthorpe residential memory and nursing memory care home, has been in full swing this week.
The club was started in February and Resident Michael Widdows was chosen as Head Gardener, as he was involved from the start, attending every session. Now Residents meet weekly to plant seeds and bulbs in pots ready for replanting in the garden.
Sheila Bemrose, Eileen Beard, Michael Widdows, David Morgan, Audrey ford, Carole Downs, Angela Enjuanes and Glenys Carter, who all live at the home, say they love watching the plants grow.
“We’ve not done this for years!” One Resident remarked
Michelle Tuck, Care Home Manager, commented, “It’s lovely to see the residents getting stuck in. They are now starting a wildlife garden. And also, each Resident has a sunflower to be entered into a competition.”
