On Thursday the 2nd of June,
Bereweeke Court residential and dementia care home, in Winchester, celebrated the Queens Platinum Jubilee.
Residents spent the morning making their own decorations and designing special Jubilee t-shirts while watching the celebrations live on television.
After this it was time for lunch; Residents gathered into the dining room for a royal themed lunch with flags, funny hats and Great British themed décor with Union Jacks.
Hazel, who lives at Bereweeke Court, said, “Its a once in a lifetime celebration, and we all love the Queen.”
All enjoyed a nice meal and then a delicious cake baked by the home’s talented chef. There was also a plentiful supply of prosecco and sherry to wash it down with.
In the afternoon they were blessed with sunny weather, so went outside for a party where they had music, games on the lawn, an arts and crafts tent, drinks table, photo opportunities with their life-size Queen Elizabeth, and of course plenty of drinks and snacks. Friends and family also joined in too! Overall, it was a fun day and great atmosphere.
Resident Mary enjoyed playing games outside with her friend who came to visit. Babs, who is also a Resident, enjoyed sunbathing with a nice drink.
Fellow Resident Shirley added, “I enjoyed the arts and crafts outside.”
Hollie, from the activities team who helped to organise the day, commented, “It was nice to have something so special to celebrate together, it was such a fun day and everyone was happy.”
