During the second week of May, Residents at HC-One’s
St Christophers care home in Hatfield enjoyed two days of baking some wonderful treats.
With the summer months coming, the kitchen Colleagues have tried to incorporate different types of cakes inspired by the one and only, Mary Berry. The Residents were given a choice about which cake they would like to try first and a general consensus was a good old fashioned Roly Poly.
This is just the first week of many and they plan to bake their way through the book. Residents ate the Roly Poly during the VE Day celebrations and the Residents ate the entire thing! They said it was delicious! One Resident said it was the ‘nicest cake they have ever eaten.’
Later on in the week, Residents enjoyed a day of baking a lovely chocolate cake. Residents Darryl Overnell and Christopher Trussler set to task with mixing all the ingredients and pouring it into a baking tin.
Chris loved helping Darryl mix the cake but they all enjoyed eating it even more. Everyone was so eager to eat it and Residents were over the moon with the outcome.
Located in a peaceful residential area of Hatfield in Hertfordshire, St. Christopher’s is a friendly care home with 163 beds, offering nursing and nursing dementia care.
