Residents a
t Hawthorn Court, residential and residential dementia care home, in Hebburn, have had lots of fun planning and taking part in a special themed day.
As part of Hydration and Nutrition Week 2022, Residents thought it would be a great to hold an Alice in Wonderland themed day.
The Residents had a day of singing and dancing as well as preparing a themed tea-trolley.
As it was Hydration and Nutrition Week, the Residents were encouraged to enjoy the special treats from the trolley which included cakes, fruit, and smoothies. The Residents enjoyed taking part in the food tasting, it was lots of fun!
Many of the Residents were involved in making the artwork for the competition. They chose and cut out appropriate pictures to stick onto a collage with a rainbow background, and a border of playing cards. One Resident, commented, “The picture turned out lovely, it took a long time to make but we had lots of fun doing it!”
Everyone had a paper crown of playing cards and cupcakes. They really enjoyed getting their pictures taken. There was a great party atmosphere, the staff joined in wearing the crowns too.
Amanda Sleightholme, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Everyone seemed to have a lovely time, the trolley treats went down very well.”
