Hawthorn Court remembrance book for Queen Elizabeth IIResidents at Hawthorn Court care home in Hebburn, were deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty The Queen and wanted to pay tribute in their own special way.

The Residents of Hawthorn Court were all delighted at being involved with making a remembrance book in honour of Her Majesty the Queen and the recent sad news of her death.

She was a very much-loved lady and Residents wanted to add their own special piece into the book. All Residents were offered the opportunity to join in, include a comment or have their photo taken.

Some wanted to sign Book of Memory, others had their own special memories.  Many remembered her fondly whilst looking at her photograph.

Residents were happy to be included in the making of the book and were keen to put in their comments.

Everyone was delighted at the result of our hard work and were happy for it to be on display in the reception area on Monday 19th September.

One Resident, commented, “It was a lovely idea to show our respect for Her Majesty the Queen by making the book.”

Amanda Sleightholme, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Everyone seemed delighted to add something to the book and to show how sad they were. The Residents enjoyed writing about their special memories and being included in the photographs.”
