Hurst Cross care home receives generous knitting donationsAt residential and nursing dementia care home, Kings Park, in Ashton-under-Lyne, everyone was blown away by a very generous donation from the local community.

Julie Reid, from Ashton Rotary Club, organised a donation of two knitting machines and two knitting looms for Kings Park, and appealed from donations of wool for the care home, which will be used by the Residents at their knitting club.

Residents at the home have been knitting hats for Tameside Hospital’s maternity and neonatal units. As well as hats and scarves for the local Forest School’s children under 5. Residents have also been made items for ladies and gents using the local Town House and dealing with homelessness.

The knitting club from the local Albion Church, have said they will join the group in the effort to provide more knitted items.

Everyone was overwhelmed at the generosity and huge amount of wool donated from the local community.

One of the Residents at the knitting club remarked, “I can’t wait to get started. We’re looking forward to making lots of baby hats first.”

Resident Michael Davies, who was previously the President of the Rotary Club, commented, “This is why the Rotary Club are so brilliant. I don’t know how to knot, but I’m sure I can use this machine.”
