Chinese New Year celebrations are well underway at HC-One’s Kirkby House care home in Kirkby, Merseyside as Residents enjoy arts and crafts and taste-testing different food inspired by the country.
They spent the morning making decorations to celebrate the year of the ox. They then had the opportunity to try different Chinese-inspired dishes including soup, sweet and sour sauce, spring rolls and prawn crackers.
Mrs Mullain, a Resident at the home, commented: “A great day, I’ve really enjoyed myself for the year of the ox. That chicken and sweetcorn soup was delicious.”
They had fun trying to get to grips with chopsticks as they listened to traditional Chinese music. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful day learning a little bit more about Chinese culture, food and tradition.
