Lincoln Residents party for Platinum Jubilee weekendA celebration street party lunch was held in the gardens of White Gables care home in Skellingthorpe, near Lincoln on Thursday 2nd June to mark Queen Eizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.

46 Residents came outside to the courtyard garden, which was decked out with Union Jack flags, bunting and windmills. They sat in the glorious sunshine enjoying a traditional selection of food including sandwiches, coleslaw, sausage rolls, cheese and pineapple sticks, scotch eggs, quiche and mini sausages.

Those involved also enjoyed themed music from the coronation era (1952).

Many Relatives also joined the event and had a go on the tombola and raffle. These raised over £110 for the Residents comfort fund, which will be used to pay for future entertainment at the home.

After lunch, some Residents stayed to listen to the entertainment, which was saxophonist Andy Cayhill who serenaded everyone with tunes from Frank Sinatra to Take That.

Wellbeing Coordinators Kate Mand and Katherine Trevor, joked, “It was interesting chasing the shade under the parasols as the sun became too hot to sit in. It was such a fun day filled with singing, laughter, and joy”
