Lincolnshire care home’s love lunchResidents at HC-One’s Brooklands care home, which offers residential, nursing and dementia care in Grimsby got together to share their love with one another for Valentine’s Day.

Everyone at the home, Colleagues and Residents alike, have become very close and good friends with one another and looking out for each other. Some shared a Valentine’s Day lunch and then joined in for an afternoon of reminiscing; chatting about how they met their significant other.

There were many giggles with one Resident recalling how she met her husband over railway lines; they used to wave at each other before he came over and asked her out.

Another Resident said that she eloped to Edinburgh to marry as her mother didn’t approve of her choice in husband. The conversations continued with one of the ladies talking about how she used to go ice-skating and met a few people from Canada who treated her to chocolates.

Hot and colds drinks were served throughout the lunch, and many commented on how it was a great meal, and they had a lovely time. They also loved decorations put up by the wellbeing team.

Catherine Brooks, Care Home Manager, remarked, “It was lovely to hear all the different stories.”
