Local mayor visits Gittisham Hill House care home ResidentAt Honiton’s Gittisham Hill House care home, which offers residential, nursing and dementia care, one Resident received a very special honour from the local mayor this May.

Resident Eileen, who Colleagues describe as a “wonderful person”, was honoured for her lifetime services dedicated to her local town council where she was Town Councillor for many years.

Throughout these years, Eileen worked tirelessly to help support her community and has recently been honoured for her services and made an honorary Alderman.

The mayor presented Eileen with a plaque and gorgeous bouquet of flowers and thanked her for her work, undertaken over many years.

Fellow Residents and Colleagues at the home all celebrated with tea and cakes.

Eileen said she felt very humbled and didn’t want any thanks for her work.

Julia Heneker, Home Manager, commented, “It’s so wonderful to see Eileen being honoured in this way for a lifetime of working to support her local community.

“Eileen is a wonderful personality in the home and where possible we involve her in our daily meetings where she feels most comfortable helping with the organisation of the home.”

“I think it’s wonderful we can help give back to people like Eileen who have clearly gone above and beyond in their careers and own lives and maybe it’s time for her to enjoy being cared for after all these years of caring for others.”
